Inventory Data Studio · by Sharon Custer, Inventory Optimization Pro

Describe the business. Get made-up inventory and finance data to test on.

Building an AI inventory month-end close, or a 13-week cash flow? Test it on made-up data first. Pick a business, tick the files, download one zip where every file ties.

Why made-up data

Test before it touches real numbers.

Set up a dashboard, a model or an AI workflow on data nobody can be hurt by. Move to your own files once it works.

Show your work without client data.

Demos, courses, portfolios and sales calls, on a company that does not exist.

Train the team without sharing the ledger.

Everyone works the same practice company, so answers can be compared and nobody sees client data.

How this works

The same free studio, two ways in. The difference: with your own Claude account you can describe your business and the problem you want to test in your own words, and the data is shaped around it. Without one, you pick from ready-made choices. Both give the same files. Nothing is sent to Inventory Optimization Pro and nothing is stored.

You are here

With a Claude account

  • Describe your business and the problem to test, in your own words
  • Claude shapes the data around it: any industry, the business drivers, extra columns
  • Upload your own blank template and get data in your columns

Needs your own Claude account. A free one is enough. It runs on your account, and Claude asks your permission first.

Without a Claude account

  • Pick from ready-made choices: industry, size, what data you need, how many years
  • The same inventory and finance files, and your own blank template if you have one
  • No describing your own problem

No sign-in, nothing to install. It runs in your browser.

Step 1

Describe the business

Your own words first, then the choices below. Leave any of them to Claude. Claude designs the dataset; the files are built here in the page.

What data do you need? Tick the files you want.
Inventory
Financial statements
Receivables and payables
Planning
KPIs

Step 2

What you get

The dataset is one zip file: every file in the list below as a CSV, plus a short note on what each one holds.

Use it anywhere you need realistic data that is not real: a dashboard, Power BI or Tableau, an Excel model, an AI tool, a training session or a client demo.

How the files agree, checked

Step 3, optional Fine-tune the data

Claude fills these in from step 1. Every change here updates the data straight away.

The question the data has to answer. It decides which columns are ticked.

    One row per

What one line in the file stands for: one item, one item each month or week, or one customer order line.

How many different products the company sells.

How many weeks of history the file covers.

    Supplier lead time, days

Each item gets a lead time between the two.

How much sales jump around from one month to the next.

When in the year sales peak.

How many weeks of sales the company keeps on the shelf, on average.

How often an order is filled from stock without running short. 95% means 1 order in 20 runs short.

Unit cost, in US dollars (USD)

What the company pays its suppliers for one unit. Each item gets a cost between the two.

The supplier names used in the data. Separate them with commas.

Where the stock is kept. Separate them with commas.

Product groups and example items, one group per line, like this: Group: item, item.

The columns in the file. Untick what you do not need.

    Add your own column
Add errors to the data (optional)

Leave on Clean for tidy data. Pick a level to add realistic errors (blank cells, duplicate rows, wrong dates). An error list is then added to your download.

The data is made up at random. This number picks which random set you get: the same number always gives exactly the same data, so a colleague can test on the same set as you. Click the button for a fresh set.

How satisfied are you with this dataset?

1 is not at all, 5 is very. Your answer goes to Sharon by email and shapes the next version.
